Battle of Red Cliff 赤壁之戰

Action director John Woo 吳宇森 has picked Taiwanese top model, Lin Chi-ling 林志玲, to star in his upcoming US$50 million opus Battle of Red Cliff 赤壁之戰 which is based on a famous ancient battle during China's Three Kingdoms period of 221-265 AD. Lin will play a beauty who "loves peace and is opposed to war" beside HK star Chow Yun-fat 周潤發 who plays general Zhou Yu, while Tony Leung 梁朝偉 is the witty strategist Zhuge Liang. filming will soon begin after the script by writer Wang Hui-ling (Crouching Tiger) is finished. a joint production between China's state-owned China Film Group and Woo's LA-based Lion Rock Production; Beijing is treating the Battle of Red Cliff as an opening event and marketing device for the 2008 Olympic Games. watch out for the chained battleships inferno scene of epic scale (think Titanic or Pearl Harbor) - in John Woo's hand, it gotta be awesome! now, i wonder who will play the meekly Liu Bei and the villain Chao Cao??
